Career Planning
It is never too early to encourage your kids to think about career choices. Many adults are unhappy in their careers because they were not encouraged to explore creative options early on. Typically children are only aware of the careers occupied by their parents and relatives. Most parents are not even aware of the wide array of career choices that exist today.
It is important to recognize that a child’s skills can be utilized in a setting that supports their interests, hobbies, sports, and personality. For example, a child who is very good in math, and loves basketball, could end up working in an Accounting Department in the offices of a professional basketball team! A child who is a computer whiz, and loves to snowboard, could end up working as a Programmer or Web Designer for a snowboard company. When you are in different settings that your child enjoys, help him/her to think about all the different skills it takes to make the operation work!
